orbital physics are derived from newtons law of universal gravitation(all objects have gravity) and Kepler's laws. all objects orbit in an ellipse without external forces, orbitals move faster nearer to the object being orbited, and the average distance^3 = orbital period^2. because of this it can be calculated that a planet with 0.0001x the radius of the star with a semimajor axis of 4 au will have an orbital period of about 8 years. however, a rocket has external propulsion and this energy can be used to alter the semimajor axis and orbital eccentricity, and to leave an orbit, the rocket would use a hyperbolic trajectory with an eccentricity of e>1, based on conic sections.
