Rayleigh was once a simple leader of a religious splinter group. They worshipped a dragon that had terrorized their region for centuries. After decades of worship and a growing contingency of followers, Rayleigh lead his congregation to the Dragons Lair in hopes of making some kind of deal with the dragon. He wished for him and his people to worship the Dragon and attend to its needs as best they could and in turn the dragon would not destroy large swathes of the region anymore. The Dragon, that they had begun calling Orion, found the offer amusing and agreed. However, what he saw as satisfying his needs, was the consumption of the flock. He slaughtered Rayleighs followers and spared him, telling him that he would be his envoy and vessel to carry its will outside the region. Orion touched a talon to Rayleighs head and when Rayleigh awoke he was adorned in new robes and two necklaces, both fitted with a scrying orb from Orion. He was tasked now with spreading the word of Orion.
